Telematics is a combination of Telecommunication and Informatics, as the result of merging Computing and Communication concepts. It is a remote communication technology that can transmit data digitally. In vehicles, telematics functions to monitor moving assets such as trucks and buses by using GPS and onboard telematics devices to detect movement and processes at specific times. This data is then transmitted to a data center to be analyzed and ready for vehicle monitoring.
