PT Hino Motors Manufacturing Indonesia Promotes Industrialisation Through Component Localisation and Partnerships with Small and Medium-sized Industries

PT Hino Motors Manufacturing Indonesia (PT HMMI) continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting national industrialisation through the development of component localisation and partnerships with Small and Medium Industries (IKM). This step is realised by the increasing number of Hino vehicle types that have obtained Domestic Component Level (TKDN) and Company Benefit Weight (BMP) certificates with a total value of over 40%.

Established on 17 December 1982, PT HMMI manufactures Hino-branded commercial trucks and buses with an investment value of USD 112.5 million. Located in the industrial area of Kota Bukit Indah, Purwakarta, the company operates five production lines: engine production, transmission, light trucks, medium trucks, and buses. The installed production capacity is 75,000 units per year. PT HMMI is supported by 1,578 direct employees as of June 2025 and over 150,000 indirect employees from the local supply chain.

Currently, PT HMMI has successfully localised components through strategic partnerships with 148 local component companies and hundreds of supporting service providers.

"Our long-term partnership with local suppliers, such as PT Gemala Kempa Daya and PT Prima Rejeki Cikupa Abadi, has successfully increased the local content of Hino brand vehicles significantly and also contributed greatly to the achievement of TKDN for Hino brand vehicles. TKDN is not just about numbers, but about impact. It supports the growth of the domestic industry, creates jobs, and reduces dependence on imports,‘ said Harianto Sariyan, Director of PT HMMI, during a talk show themed ’PT HMMI Promotes Industrialisation Through Component Localisation and Partnerships with Small and Medium Industries" held at the GIIAS 2025 event at ICE BSD.

In the process of obtaining TKDN and BMP certification, PT HMMI followed strict procedures, including document verification and on-site audits by an Independent Verification Body (PT Surveyor Indonesia). The company also achieved a BMP value of 14.10% out of a maximum of 15%, thanks to the empowerment of local SMEs such as PT Nurindo, which has become a strategic partner with annual transaction values exceeding Rp 3 billion.

By mid-2025, PT HMMI had obtained TKDN certificates for 31 vehicle types with TKDN + BMP values ranging from 44.35% to 57.26%, making Hino products eligible to be called domestically manufactured products. This certification provides a competitive advantage, particularly in government procurement of goods and services, in accordance with regulatory mandates as stipulated in Presidential Instruction No. 2 of 2022 on Accelerating the Increase in the Use of Domestic Products.

“The government encourages all industry players to take PT HMMI’s achievement as inspiration to continue enhancing their commitment not only to produce in Indonesia but to truly build an industry rooted in domestic strength. We congratulate the achievement of 31 vehicle types with TKDN certification, and hope this further strengthens the automotive sector’s contribution to the national economy and makes the Indonesian industry more resilient and highly competitive. ” stated Dr. Ir. Heru Kustanto, M.Si, Head of the P3DN Centre at the Ministry of Industry, represented by Dhini Widya Utari, ST, MM, as Chair of the Business Meeting and Planning Team for P3DN at the Ministry of Industry.

With more than four decades of experience, Hino remains committed to being part of Indonesia's development through innovation, industrialisation, and synergy with local industry players.
